Mozilla announces closure of Mastodon instance
Mozilla has announced that the Mastodon instance Mozilla.social will be closed on December 17, 2024. The platform, which was launched in May 2023 as a privacy-friendly alternative in the Fediverse, was only able to attract a limited number of users. With less than 300 active users, growth fell short of expectations. Users can export their data before the closure or switch to other Mastodon instances to keep their content and followers.
